First urban transport flight in Europe with FlyingBasket’s heavy payload cargo drone FB3

An important corner for the future of civic air mobility (UAM) has been witnessed this week in the Italian megacity of Torino, where European leader of artificial weight Drones, FlyingBasket, performed the first civic area flight operation. This flight was part of a logistic demonstration in collaboration with Leonardo, an Italian global high-technology company, among the top world players in Aerospace. Defense and Security, and Poste Italiane, the Italian postal service provider.

The eVTOL weight drone FB3 with 100 kg cargo capability has been in marketable operation since 2020, when FlyingBasket entered the first functional authorization to perform complex logistic operations in sparsely populated areas. Having accumulated ample experience as a Drone driver across several European countries, FlyingBasket was distinctively the dependable choice for this airman design.

The charge began from the collaboration center of Poste Italiane in Torino (Piedmont, Italy), where delivery packages were transported by 2 heavy- lift drones, designed, and operated by FlyingBasket, over the Stura di Lanzo swash. One drone with a weight cube and another with a sling cargo carried 26 KG all over a3.9 KM distance to the destination point. The sling cargo with a weight hook makes accessible delivery possible without the need for wharf structure whereas, the weight cube is designed to grease easier weight running. The demonstration set out a compelling case for beyond aviators’ visual line of sight, or BVLOS breakouts in the advanced air mobility (AAM) environment.

CEO, Moritz Moroder – “                                      The future of logistics lies with independent weight transportation. This charge demonstrated the inconceivable eventuality of weight drones in metropolitan areas. Moment we transport 100 kg with a single drone, in the future a line of independent drones won’t only be suitable to keep up with rising logistics demand, but also increase inflexibility and reduce delivery time.”

FlyingBasket is at the van of the drone assiduity, as the company was the first in Europe to admit evidence forcross-border operations grounded on the Functional Authorization granted by Italian aeronautics authority, ENAC. ENAC granted the Functional Authorization in the megacity of Torino to FlyingBasket, grounded on the threat assessment, the demonstrated safety position of the operations and the design of the FB3 drones that formerly again proved their trustability in grueling surroundings.

With similar advancements, the UAM sector is gaining significant instigation, encouraging visionary measures by crucial stakeholders in supporting the development of automated and sustainable logistics.

Along with controllers and assiduity leaders, FlyingBasket is determined to continue working towards immolation effective and flexible drone results in safety-critical surroundings across Europe and soon, worldwide.
