Ireland is Best Travel Destination Again – Bags the Award Ninth Year in a Row

Ireland has once again proved that it’s worthy as a preferred destination among travellers. A renowned US travel publication announced that Ireland is Europe’s best travel destination for the ninth year consecutively. Additionally, the country had tough competition from competitors such as Croatia, France, Italy, Greece, and Spain.

On the 20th annual Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, Ireland was declared the winner in the category of “best destination in Europe.” And Tourism Ireland received this award at the ceremony held at the American Museum of Natural History, New York.

The awards represent the viewpoint of the readers of Travel Weekly who have voted in 82 categories for the best of the best choices.

An open voting phase was held in the summer to spot the top vote recipients followed by a second round in the autumn.

Tourism Ireland’s North America head was delighted at bagging the honour. He said, “Travellers nowadays have tremendous choice, which makes it more important than ever for us to ensure Ireland stands out from other destinations – so this award is really good news, as we prepare to kick off another extensive and targeted promotional drive in 2023.”

Ireland generated a total of 1.6 billion Euros worth of economy from 1.7 million US tourists in 2019.
