Logistics UK supports report looking into the impact of UK logistics sites

Logistics UK( 07 June 2022) supported the launch of a report probing The Impact of Logistics spots in the UK, commissioned by Amazon and produced by Frontier Economics.
The launch was held as part of a Logistics of Levelling Up round- table held at the House of Commons and patronized by Ben Everitt MP, Member of the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee, as well as elderly representatives from Amazon UK, business group Logistics UK and Frontier Economics.
conversations at the meeting centred around the part of the sector in driving profitable recovery and the openings it offers for levelling up. As outlined in the report, logistics is a growing assiduity at the heart of all profitable exertion across the UK; according to the rearmost data, the number of people working in logistics has dramatically increased from,600 in 2012 to in 2021.
Speaking at the launch, John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager at Amazon explained “ The logistics assiduity plays an absolutely critical part in this country, and we believe it can also play a major part in the levelling up docket creating jobs, supporting small businesses, and connecting remote communities to profitable success.
“ A crucial finding of the exploration is that two- thirds( 63) of logistics directors moment don’t have a university degree. This demonstrates that the logistics assiduity is powering social mobility. Our sector doesn’t just produce jobs, it creates satisfying careers, with openings to advance, that are accessible to those who may not have set up their place in formal education. ”
Phil Roe, President of Logistics UK, reflected “ Unlike other sectors, the logistics assiduity has a unique position as a provider of a wide range of job openings – at varying payment and skill points – across the wholeness of the UK, and therefore has an integral part to play in the UK’s levelling up docket. Logistics needs to be included in all unborn plans for civic and pastoral developments, to maximise the impact it can give to all corridor of the frugality, and Logistics UK is calling on the government to insure logistics is considered as an integral part of unborn public and original planning strategies. ”
