No More Visa-free Travel to This European Country from Jan 1 for Indians

A country in Southeastern-central Europe recently modified its visa rules. From January 1, Serbia will cancel a visa-free entry to all the nationals of India. However, this change won’t apply to Indians having a visa or residence permit of the UK, USA, or any of the Schengen countries.

Before you plan a trip to this part of Europe, you should check the latest updates to be sure you don’t face any problems. A statement came from the Indian Embassy in Belgrade about the change. As per the statement, all the Indians visiting the EU country will need a visa to enter the Republic of Serbia.

The statement further added, “The existing arrangement of visa-free entry into Serbia for all Indian passport holders for staying in Serbia up to 30 days has been withdrawn by the Government of Serbia.”

From January 1, Indians willing to visit Serbia will need to obtain a visa prior to travelling from the Embassy of Serbia, Delhi or their country of residence.

Exemptions to No Visa-free Travel Rule for Indians

The no visa-free entry rule, however, doesn’t apply to all Indians and has certain exceptions. Indian citizens having a residence of permit or visa of the UK, USA, and Schengen countries are exempted. Those falling in this category can still enter Serbia without a visa for up to 90 days on or after January 1, 2023.

No Visa-free Entry for Other Countries

Earlier, the Serbian government terminated visa-free entry from November 20 for nationals of Burundi (East Africa), Tunisia (North Africa), and Guinea-Bissau (West Africa).
