Smart Locker Delivery in the UK – DHL Parcel UK Partners with Quadient

DHL Parcel UK is partnering with Quadient and this partnership is expected to strengthen its hold in the industry. For an overview, Quadient is a major global operator of parcel lockers. It is also a leading name in assisting businesses to use physical and digital channels for creating meaningful customer connections.

In the UK, DHL Parcel is joining Quadient’s growing network of parcel lockers. This venture will enable DHL Parcel UK to offer smart lockers parcel pick-up service across the United Kingdom. It comprises secure, contactless locker stations that will facilitate recipients with higher flexibility and choice for receiving parcels on time at their desired location.

Currently, DHL Parcel UK is working to create 500 operating locker stations throughout the UK by 2022 end. In the coming years, the number of stations will rise to 5000 with most stations installed outdoors to offer 24-hour accessibility.

Once a parcel enters the DHL network, its recipient will be alerted through a notification. Then, the recipient can choose a convenient locker station using the company’s website or app. DHL further adds another level of flexibility and control by allowing recipients to divert their “out-for-delivery” parcels to desired smart lockers or ServicePoints.

When the parcel reaches the desired locker station, the recipient will get confirmation along with a QR code or an OTP. This PIN or QR code can be used to access the locker door.

While the convenience of the collection is a direct benefit of this service, this isn’t it. The use of smart lockers will strengthen the delivery service and network, resulting in reduced carbon emissions and road miles for DHL.

DHL Parcel UK’s CEO, Peter Fuller commented, “We’ve rapidly enhanced and expanded our offering for retail customers over the previous two years, experiencing eCommerce growth as well as for consumers with a new delivery, send and returns options. Smart Lockers will enhance our service even further. They’re a safe, secure, and accessible way for people to receive their parcels on time and location that suits their lifestyles.”

Quadient, the French tech company, is creating its stronghold in the UK through a scalable, big, and dense automated parcel locker network to integrate first- and last-mile deliveries.

Quadient’s COO DACHIT UK IRL, Duncan Groom shared excitement over this. He stated, “We are excited that DHL Parcel UK has joined Quadient’s smart parcel locker network for offering consumers even more flexibility on where, when, and how they can securely and conveniently pick up deliveries and ship returns. We will ensure that each location is conveniently accessible by consumers and allows for the right volume capacity based on data and experience. Our technology is designed to scale and adapt to the growing usage and volumes, addressing the needs of retailers, carriers, and new partners to come.”
