Sri Lanka Travel Advice Lifted – UK Travel Office

Sri Lanka’s state of emergency ended on Saturday (27 August). And before that, UK’s Foreign Office announced a revision to its travel warning for the country.
The action followed the further postponement suspension of island vacations by Tui. The airline’s operator blamed the most recent round of cancellations on the nation’s “ongoing political and economic upheaval.”
As per FCDO, even if travel restrictions are relaxed, there’s still a “serious economic crisis” in Sri Lanka that has caused a shortage of basics.
The FCDO’s warning warns that the severe lack of fuel (diesel and gasoline) is having an impact on transportation, companies, and emergency services. The availability of hospitals and other medical services, such as ambulances, may be impacted.
Another caution is that economic protests in recent months have caused violence against peaceful protestors, leading to fatalities and injuries.
It said, “Protesters have been dispersed using tear gas and water cannons.” “Roadblocks, protests, riots, and violent disturbances might happen suddenly. Additionally, curfews and emergency rules may be implemented.”
