The Best Staycation Destinations 2023 – Where can Britons Visit Next Year?

Wondering where to spend a wonderful holiday in the UK in 2023? A list of the UK’s best staycation destinations for 2023 is here. And an attractive Scottish destination is on the list with many thrilling reasons to travel to.

Condé Nast Traveller UK, a travel magazine, has shared a list of the best places to travel within Britain in 2023. The list comprises the best countries, cities, and regions. Here’s a list of the best staycation destinations in the UK according to the magazine:

  1. Manchester, England
  2. Wales, UK
  3. Bath, England
  4. Glasgow, Scotland
  5. Edinburgh, Scotland
  6. Kent, England
  7. Inverness, Scotland
  8. Liverpool, England
  9. Yorkshire, England
  10. Mayfair, England
  11. Peak District, England
  12. Holywood, Northern Ireland

Among the three Scottish destinations, Inverness found a place. According to judges, “Think of the Scottish Highlands and the imagination grasps for roller coasting glens, empty moorlands, and craggy-faced mountains, a landscape tailor-made for slow travel. But life here is moving at a fast pace. Plus, Inverness and its surrounding matrix of lochs and wild lands, is gaining worldwide recognition for several thrilling reasons.”

The magazine also highlighted the rewilding centre that will be opening shortly at the Dundreggan Estate. It also recommends exploring the thermal imaging safaris from Connel Outdoor Pursuits for tourists.

Another top recommendation on the list is Yorkshire which offers tourists plenty to explore with its rugged landscapes. A statement from the team states that the place features a history of industry and tough materials, rugged landscapes, a literature blend, and more. Explore a developing art scene in Yorkshire that has paved the way for countless greats including Barbara Hepworth, David Hockney, and the renowned sculptor Henry Moore. All this comes together to create a boundary-pushing and heady blend of natural and man-made beauty.

Plus, plenty of quality restaurants create a flourishing foodie scene in Yorkshire, giving you another reason to visit. And the next year’s city of culture will be Leeds. The city will offer tourists and locals a host of creative experiences throughout a year-long celebration of culture.

Wales is also there on the list. And the team of judges didn’t highlight one or the other part of the country. Instead, it referred to Wales as a fantastic destination on the whole.

According to the team, Wales will likely be a hub of the thriving outdoor sauna scene of the UK. And the team emphasized Snowdonia’s Heartwood Saunas.

The Wild Drovers’ Way, a new slow-travel route, is another highlight from the team. Going this way enables tourists to explore Welsh Beauty over a slow way that stretches 180 miles. The foodie scene of the nation is another thing that the team mentioned for its innovative restaurants.

If you are looking for a beach staycation, Eastbourne tops the list of destinations for seaside breaks. Talking about the place, the team stated that the town got rid of its former sleepy image. Now, it has emerged as one of the latest upcoming coastal hotspots.

Towner Eastbourne is a must-visit next year. Tourists will enjoy exhibitions and a lot more as the town will be celebrating its centenary year in 2023. In September, the town will host the Turner Prize and Sussex will be hosting the renowned award for the first year. The Barbara Hepworth show in the summers is another go-to event in the town.

Similarly, every place mentioned on the list has something special for tourists visiting from within the UK and abroad alike.
