UK Set to Reduce Visa Application Processing Time to 15 Days, Again

As per a report from Economic Times, there’s good news for travellers visiting the UK. Authorities announced that visa applications will be processed within 15 days from now.

Moreover, authorities also declared that priority visas will be processed within 5 days, Visaguide.World reports.

British High Commissioner Alex posted on his Twitter account that those who travel from India to the UK will get visas within 15 working days.

UK authorities made strict rules like many other nations to prevent cases of COVID infection from increasing. The authorities implemented strict travel rules and various entry bans. Nevertheless, with the epidemiological situation improving drastically, the authorities finally decided to abolish the restrictions.

This ease of travel restrictions cause a rise in travel demand at a time when the UK was struggling with an immigration backlog. This prompted numerous students, workers, and tourists to reschedule their trips.

However, UK officials have now announced a decision to ease the process for travellers, reducing the application processing timeline to 15 days. At the same time, Ellis also announced that slots have been opened for the student visa.

According to UK Immigration Statistics, the latest figures show that student visa was issued to around 118,000 students from India during the year ending June 2022. This shows an increase of 89% than the figures provided for the same period last year.

On the other hand, the same source reveals that Britain is still among the most popular destinations for Indians. 28% of UK visit visas issued in the year ending June 2022 were granted to Indians. More than 258,000 Indians received tourist visas, a 630% rise compared to the same period last year when protecting citizens’ lives was a priority with active COVID-related restrictions.

The Economic Times report shows that Indians received about 103,000 work visas for the UK that’s 148% higher than the last year’s same period data.

By the end of June 2022, annual figures show that Indians continue to top the list of skilled workers’ visas granted. This is 46% of all visas of this category that the Britain authorities granted.
