Based On a report of marketing platform Awin, UK travel bookings are increasing despite flight disturbances and staff scarcity.
For the first few months, there was a steady incline despite the usual peak in January for throughout performance as per the platform’s data. By the end of Q1, there has been a lot of progress in international travel. It was recorded at 57% of total year-to-date bookings that was 43% more than the same period last year.
As we know, people mostly travel in summer. But for these summers, airlines announced cancellation for hundreds of flights. Instead of this, travel bookings have continuously increased. And comparing Q2 to Q1, there is a 10% increase in travel browsing, 13% in bookings, and 15% in revenue.
Coaches and cruises have seen a lot of increase in bookings
In the midst of flight disruption, there has been a rise in the use of other travel modes. And due to this, coaches and cruises saw the greatest rise, up by 102% and 100% QoQ. Also, for trains, the revenue was up 120% QoQ. During this, airline bookings were lower but still showed a rise of 30% QoQ with a 29% increase in revenue. In the meanwhile, several online agencies have seen a drop of 1% in QoQ bookings and a slight increase of 2% in the revenue.
Awin’s travel client partner, Joelle Hillman commented, “Over the last couple of years, many clients missed out on travel and holiday plans. That’s why, many are planning to get away from their hectic schedules, keeping higher priorities for holiday amid the cost-of-living crisis.”
“On the other hand, due to staff shortages, airport disruption, and flight cancellations, consumer confidence has taken a toll. Still, Brits are not losing hopes to travel abroad this year. However, throughout Q3, last-minute trip bookings will likely see a potential increase because travellers are very eager to get away to warmer climates.”
